I have had the pleasure of working with Patricia for over one year in my attempt to learn a second language. When we first started together I had no knowledge of Spanish and no aptitude for language. With her guidance and patience I can now read, write and speak Spanish.
Her curriculum focuses on starting with basic grammar so that a strong foundation is built and easy to add to. She works tirelessly with me to ensure I truly understand the concept (reflexive pronouns not found in English), correct use and pronunciation. She works diligently to find various ways to bring things to life again to be sure I understand rather than memorizing and then not being able to use outside of class on my own. Her teaching skills allow her to know when to push me or when to move slower with more review. Further she discovers the best way for each student to learn be that visual, written, oral or a combination. She is always patient and understanding with questions while continuing to challenge and move my learning forward. It goes without saying she is extremely professional, has prepared my lessons for each class and is dedicated to the learning of each student.
In closing I feel very fortunate to have met Patricia as a Spanish Teacher and now am lucky to have my Spanish Teacher as a friend.

I moved to Coco in August of last year and have been taking classes with Patricia since early October. I know her very well, as I try to have class four days a week, mixing up group conversation classes and one-on-one sessions. Patricia is extremely passionate about the role she takes on with her students. Not only is she a great language teacher, patiently doling out Spanish grammar, writing and speech to her students, but she is a true professional when it comes to creating schedules that meet everyone's needs. Living as an expat can be trying, as everyone knows. But having Patricia there for your language needs, as well as to answer the millions of questions that come up regarding Costa Rica's unique ways, is invaluable. I highly recommend her as a language teacher!

Joanie and I have chosen Costa Rica as our winter home. We have been here for the past three years and love our life here. One reason we chose Costa Rica is our desire to immerse ourselves in a foreign culture and learn Spanish. We have been working with Patricia Vogel for two years. Patricia makes learning Spanish fun. The language with its rules and exceptions and exceptions to the exceptions is a challenge to learn. Patricia is a wonderfully skillful teacher. She takes her work seriously, has an excellent command of the language, and knows how to teach so that a student feels comfortable speaking with local people once lessons begin. Many times I have had to converse with people who speak no English, and I am amazed at how my lessons are enabling me to carry on a basic conversation. Now Patricia is encouraging us to listen to Spanish television to train our ears to hear Spanish being spoken. I truly enjoy working with Patricia and know you will also. Yo hablo espanol.
